Terroir Selection Szarvas Aszú 6 Puttonyos, 2013

From an outstanding Aszú vintage, this is a single vineyard wine made from grapes harvested in the historic first-class Szarvas cru on the southern slope of Tokaj Hill. The vines grow on loess topsoil with an underlying bedrock of black, rock-hard volcanic dacite and are constantly exposed to sunlight. The morning mist from the Tisza regularly reaches up to the skirts of the hill in autumn, making it the perfect location for the production of aszú berries. With a deep golden colour, dried apricot and honey aromas, this richly f lavoured wine speciality displays a profound complexity due to the utilization of aszú berries from all the permitted varieties of the wine region. The 214 grams of natural residual sugar strikes a beautiful balance with the lively acidity of the base wine, making for an incredibly long, full and mineral palate.
