A multidimensional Hungarian variety: Furmint

Furmint has been recognised and admired as a noble sweet wine in Hungary for centuries. Its excellence in this genre is due to its natural tendency for balance: increasing ripeness and high residual sugar do not blunt its vibrant acidity. In the early 2000s, a revolutionary change took place that brought this powerful grape variety to the forefront of dry wines with a remarkable ability to express its terroir. With our six-wine flight, you can discover several Hungarian wine regions and wine styles, from dry to sweet. The masterclass will be led by András Horkay.

Vinitaly and the City: In the land of volcanoes: a journey through powerful dry wines and the incomparable Aszú

In recent years, more and more professionals looking for new and exciting wines have discovered the unique character that volcanic soils give to wines. In Hungary, long dormant volcanoes are the defining feature of several wine regions, and two of these terroirs with very strong characters, Somló and Tokaj, will be presented in our masterclass with the help of six wines. What makes this series so special is that we will explore the world of volcanic wines not only through dry wines, but also through sweet wines, in this case Tokaj Aszú, which requires the most expensive viticultural and winemaking techniques in the world.
